We are big fans of hitting the road when we can to get out and see the world, visit family and friends and new places.
We hope 2021 brings some of that to each of you. And perhaps while you’re out driving, a little Kathy Mattea on the radio along the way. :)
Happy Wednesday everyone! It’s another rendition of #ClassicCountryWednesday. We hope this week’s song(s) put a little smile on your faces.
We threw an original in there for you this week again, although this is one we tweaked, versus wrote. A good friend though shared it with us in the hopes we’d record his song. Check out Ain’t Life a Son of a Bitch in the link above if you missed it, and our recorded version here.
Back to the 18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses song for a moment, have you ever really digested the lyrics? Love these especially.
They'll buy a Winnebago
Set out to find America
They'll do a lotta catchin' up
A little at a time
With pieces of the old dream
They're gonna light the old flame
Doin' what they please
Leavin' every other reason behind
We may not have a Winnebago but we’ve got some old clunkers and we hop in and head out whenever we can. We love road trips - something we both come by earnestly as we both grew up taking them, for various reasons. Vacations. Rodeo life. Regardless of the inspiration now, we tend to drive in search of good scenery, good people, craft beer, unique stops and local music wherever we may find ourselves.
So, another artist we’d love to steer you towards is Jarrod Morris. We happened to catch him at Gruene Hall in Texas here a couple years ago. Gruene Hall is believed to be the oldest continually operating dance hall in that state. We were so fortunate to catch this band on stage that night. Jarrod and Casey bonded over a suit coat we bought years ago for Casey at Goodwill and the fact that they’re both farriers. We love the band and crank up their tunes and sing real loud along with them routinely while hitting the highway.
"Live a little, love a lot." - Kenny Chesney
That’s it for this week, friends. Appreciate being able to play for you here, there, wherever you may be and the fact you’re all gluttons for punishment and keep coming back. We are blessed.
Stay safe, stay well, and see you soon. Next Wed right here if nothing else, we hope.
- Casey & Carleen
